FAQ’s

Please email us if your questions are not answered below at contact@littlefolkies.com.

Do parents participate in the class?

Yes! Little Folkies is a parent participation class! Please read the participation guidelines before your first class to make sure you and your child get the most out of the experience!

Can I demo a class before registering for the entire semester?

We can’t wait to make music with you! We highly encourage you to enroll for the whole semester to get the full benefits of the class. Throughout the session you will notice an increase in participation and in your child's musical development. You can sign up for a one-time drop to try out the class before committing to full semester or membership. Drop ins are $35.

Where are your classes held?

Check the schedule for your area in the website navigation under “Sign up!”, then select your area. If we do not have classes in your area, fear not! We have an online teacher training program and you can refer a local musician to take the training and get started with classes next semester!
Let us know if you have any locations to recommend or host a class in your own backyard!

Can our child care provider bring our child to class?

Yes. We do ask that the person attending class with your child is familiar with the Little Folkies class guidelines.

My child just started walking and loves to explore and might not sit still.
Should I wait until she/he is older before enrolling?

Usually children become more engaged throughout the semester as they get more familiar with the songs and activities in class.  Even if your child tends to wander off or seems like he/she is not participating, they are are still absorbing the music. As the semester progresses you’ll usually notice an increased interest in the class and children will often begin to sing and request the songs at home.  It is important to come every week to really get the full benefits of the class as consistency and repetition is so important for those little ones.  We ask parents to continually engage the child during the class and bring them back to the circle.

Do you allow drop-ins?

Yes we do allow drop ins but your child will benefit greatly from coming on a weekly basis for the duration of the semester as opposed to coming a random times. We want you to have the best class experience possible, and the little ones benefit so much from consistency and repetition. Attending the same class every week helps create connection between the child and the teacher as well as the other participants in the class. If you are going to drop in make sure to familiarize yourself and your child with the current music and the class guidelines!

Do you allow make-up lessons?

If so, how do I schedule them? Yes. You are welcome to schedule up to 3 make-up classes per session (and more with extenuating circumstances). To schedule or cancel your make-ups, please reach out to your teacher.

Do you Have a sibling discount?

We offer a 20% discount for siblings. We also allow for newborns (younger than 6 months old) to come join along in the class if their sibling is enrolled.

Can I transfer my make-up lessons into the next semester?

Unfortunately, we do not transfer make-up lessons into the next semester.  Your 3 available make-up lessons must be scheduled within the current semester. If you need more than 3 make-up lessons due to extenuating circumstances, please contact your teacher or contact us to request additional make-ups.

My schedule changed; can I switch into another class?

Absolutely!  Please contact your teacher or contact us  to request to switch into a different class.  We will honor your request unless the class is full, in which case we will ask you for your next best choice for a class time.

I am not able to continue going to classes.  Can I receive a refund?

We only offer a refund during the first week of the semester. If for some reason the class does not work out for you, we must receive your refund request before the second class date in order to refund you for the remainder of the semester. After the first week of class, we do not offer a refund. Instead, we can offer a credit (valid for up to 12 months) toward future Little Folkie classes or other events.

Are the Little Folkies teachers available to perform for private parties?

Yes! Please read more about our Little Folkies birthday party offerings here
